No Teamwork Can Mean Death

If you've known a group of friends for years, would you defend them? Stick up for them? Kill for them? Even if Millions of dollars are at stake? If they die, theres less people to split the cash between. You only get the money if you succeed. You need these people, but you want all the money. In the book "Six of Crows," by Leigh Bardugo, These six thieves have to choose between their partners in crime, or 30,000,000 dollars. Throughout the book they grow closer. The defend, and save each other constantly. All this to the point where they trust and rely on each other to stay alive. The theme of this book is teamwork, and learning to put logic before greed.

One conflict is truly learning to rely on the ones that love you. In this book, the characters are afraid of depending on others. They are independent, which comes in handy at times, but right now it doesn't. they need to learn to put their lives in their teammates hands, because they need each other to survive. Throughout the book they learn new things about each other, and grow closer, but don't all trust each other. Kaz and Inej are really close friends, and seems like they want to be more. They trust each other and have accepted that they are better together then on their own. The rest of the crew hasn't, which is a weakness. There's so much at stake. One quote that stands out to me is "But his blood was alive, his rifle was at his shoulder, the world made sense again." This made me think about how everyone has a place, or possession that makes them feel like they belong. Inez's is her knife. Nina's is Matthias. Without these people or objects, they wouldn't have as much faith in their lives. This group of people have nothing but each other. No families, stable home, friends. Just each other.

Overall, these band of thieves, have absolutely nothing without each other, and so they must learn to open up and trust. This book is filled with life threatening obstacles, and how they are overcome by these vigilante. They start out with crime and slowly but surely end up saving themselves and the ones they care about. The themes are trust, and friendship, because they have nothing without them.
